Hi

Does anyone have any experience of the oe Yamaha panniers for a XT.

I have seen photos but not seen them in the flesh.

Hey Dogman
I had the very same queery regarding the oe boxes. I actually have a friend who has them and as a result of seeing and inspecting them actually opetd for the T'tech option. I am very pleased I did as the T'tech frame and boxes are much.. much more substantial. The oe are quite small and very light and flimsy, however, I haven't gone for the v'large T'tech. 35lt boxes are still within the limits of the handlebar width.
I have the pics of my bike but not sure of theprocess of attaching them. Will try to PM them to you

I've got the OEM Panniers for the Tenere, well at least until I get them on Ebay!

They are stronger than they look, and can take a couple of falls, but the mounting just isn't upto the job. They mount at the top and at one point at the bottom front, leaving the lower rear part of the pannier kinda flapping!

They are a bit small for anything serious, they say 30l but the 29l Zega bag only just fits inside, and thats with a squeeze.

I'm just waiting delivery of the new Zega Pro stuff from TT, it's been despatched but it's not arrived yet......

on balance, if you want to tour, as in B&B or Hotel then they are a good buy, waterproof and they do take a good beating. If you are off over the desert then something with better mounting is advisable.

The locking mechanism is overly complicated too, not easy to repair if it should fill up with sand/mud.

I had mine replaced on warrenty when they developed a stress fracture along the top mount, maybe something to do with a caoupl of off-road falls

I have two new ones that I'm selling along with the mount kit. (if you are intersted PM me)

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
