Rok straps - any good fot offroad?

Has anyone done any serious off-road touring using the adjustable Rok straps?

I usually just use a dry bag over the seat fastened with bungees, however I am now looking at alternatives. Rok straps seem to have a good reputation, but I am concerned that the plastic buckle will be too flimsy for any decent off-road use and is likely to snap.

Any thoughts?

Well not serious off-road but dirt roads and fire trails they work fine for me that plastic buckle is found on lots of stuff and fails are not common. But use a net around your bag with straps just to fave that little extra help. mine have 12,000 miles on them and are good. Lost a bit of the end of one on my last trip some thing to look out for there a bit long.

Best straps I ever bought. No problems with the catches on mine.
You can always carry a spare, or simply use just the webbing portion if a catch gives up.
Used them on very rough and no-road sections in Kaz without problems.

As DLbiten, I put an elastic net over as well bit that's more for stuff those odd bits under, like waterproofs.

You've been using Bungees? and you're concerned about RokStraps? Jeez.

I used several sets of RokStraps for 3 years, down through south America and then Africa. They wore out from the sun (and from the chaffing of carrying tires) and never failed otherwise. And I never worried about them failing to do their job. (everyone with bungees had loads of problems)

Buy RokStraps and don't worry about them. They work.

Matt they are excellent - I have however had one buckle fail once. However if you tie the trailing web end over the buckle to the other strap or fixing point - even if it fails the strap stays loosely in place does that make sense ?. i ould rarely consider anything else.

Thanks all. That seems to be fairly consistent good feedback, so I will give them a try and see how they go.
