i was thinking to re-use one of my petrol rear tank, which holds about 12liters, for water. the remaining petrol capacity 36l should be well enough for desert trips...
as the (platic) tank has been used for petrol, suppose flushing it out wont do the trick but could do with some plastic coating on the inside i suppose. anyone any experience with that? thx

Even if you could do it from a health point, why would you?
Get something like an MSR Dromedary bag. They come in 10L also and are cheap enough. Best of all, they have lots of attachment points, are flexible, nearly indestructible and come with a drinking cap attached to them. The carrying of a huge tank around would not be worth saving the little money, if at all. You could sell your tank to offset the water bag cost as well. |
