Michelin Deserts

Dose a 140-90 18 Michelin Desert fix
into a standard XT 600 Tenere swing arm
or dose it require the rim to be changed to a 17 inch to gain extra clearance ?
send help quick as I am waiting to send my wheels to be rebuild.

It is possible to mount a 18" Desert on the teneré , but you have to add at least 20 mm. to the lenght of the standard chain ...otherwise it will destroy itself touching the connecting bar .

Several years ago, I tried to fit a rear Desert into a Tenere, but it was (only)just too big. I made it fit by shaving off parts of the outside blocks with a pen knife. No problem after that - what was left got worn away pretty quickly on the swinging arm. This was all done without using a longer chain.
