make your own pacsafe/helmetsafe stuff
 

anyone tried. Was speaking to one of the guys i work with he used to run work parties that made fishing nets/ goalnets he said it should be easy enough to make them and a hell of a lot cheaper than buying them premade. Just wondering if anyone has tried and what sort of wire they used.

just remember to make sure your Helmet is attached higher than the height a dog can pee.... otherwise you may find yourself putting on a damp and very smelly lid!

having 3 male dogs im well trained at getting things above aiming level. Its the cats im worried about they think anything box shaped is a litter tray

I did actually make my own set to fit around a set of soft pannier.. (sorry no pics) ... After i sourced the enough stainless wire and enough crimps to make it all worth while it was only marginally cheaper then buying them and then it took me weeks of weaving . (i ended up having to get the crimps made for me and remember each joint has to be crimped or it will be moveable allowing access to your gear... I think for the two bags I needed 1500 crimps.. ) . all in all I was happy because they fit my panniers perfectly (unlike the the shop bought ones).. but the money and time was not worth it... as i found that at the end of the day it was a pain in the ass putting them on and taking them off so i would ride with them on.. and it scratched my bike alot.. I have since move to metal panniers and top box.. faster and simpler.. but a lot more money!!!
