I Love Rubber!!!

being a former sports bike rider/racer I have a lot of time for the black hoops... However, my new found love of trail bikes, especially my new/old Yamaha XTZ750 Super Tenere, leaves me confused over which tyers are the business for road use. One of the questions I have is, what sort of selection of trail bike road tyres can be used with spoke wheels with inner tubes or is this the norm?

Any suggestions/comments welcome.

By the way - trail bikes 'Rock' on the road, way more fun than sports bikes!!! Riding fast its not big and its not clever, well, on the road anyway... As not to worry those Hardcore trailies out there I bought the bike to ride London - Turkey - Italy - London in early 2007 and take in the Istanbul MotoGP.:thumbup1:

Mine are currently on Bridgestone Trailwings, but i'm looking at the various suggestions being made here...http://supertenere.proboards20.com/

Tubes

Just pick up some tubes for tubeless tires that are the appropriate size. I would also recommend using rim strips to help prevent the spokes from poking the tube.

I use the Dunlop D606, there decent on road and can get me to where I'm going off road, although the tread pattern is not as aggressive as some other's out there. The Continental Twinduro TKC 80 seems to be a pretty popular tire, with good mileage properties. A friend has used the Maxis M60006 with good results in all riding conditions. The Metzler MCE Karoo is similar to the TKC with slightly taller and wider spaced knobs.

you can use tubes in tubeless tyres, just get the right sized tubes to suit your wheels and use rim tape. you can also use punctureseal, goop etc in a tube. i have tubes in my so called "tubeless" dunlop GPR80s on my supermoto.

I'm back from nowhere!

Thanks very much for the advice guys. I've gone for the Michelin Anakee for the front as the back Michelin still has plenty of life left in her.

The Anakee is a fantastic tyre, I've just got to get use to the massive susspension travel now!:thumbup1:

Cheers,

Matt.
