Hello riders,

I was searching for good side bags for a long time. Yeahh ! there are some goods ones, but way to expensive. Since we all need the cash for fuel and beer I thought I share some good products which I found.
Please note, this is not an advert.
The bags are from the swiss military, most of them unused. The material is super strong and waterproof. There are 2 bag types that I like most. Both are good!
Please Look at the pictures. The right bag has some more straps to connect it to the bike. But the left bag has some metal riveted locks, which are more easy to open and close. My girlfriend is going to sew a harness, not big deal, to attach it to the bike. Will seed pics as soon as the weather is better :D.

here you can get them:
the right bag is on offer for 6,5 chf, around 5 euros!
green-store.ch - Swiss Army - Orginal - Grosser Rucksack 90 3500 0018

the left bag I have just bought it at my local Military store, it is on offer for 5 chf, around 4 euros!! You can buy it here:
green-store.ch - Swiss Army - Orginal - Effektensack - F-Sack 3700 0030

If anybody needs help with shippment, I also can buy and ship it to you.... if you offer a beer or a tentplace for my next trip :D.

I was really happy to find this cheap and durable option, this is why I want to share it with you guys. Hope if it is any help.

Great find - they have some good ex-army gear in CH.
What is the capacity or dimensions - about 30L?

hello,

Yes the size is about 30-40 Liters, depends on how much you fill the bags :).
Hope it gets warm soon. I am trying to build some simple side racks to prevent the bags from touching the muffler :D.

They remind me of the Indian-made Cramster bags available in the UK at £75 a pair.

I've no idea what these are like in the flesh, having never seen any, at £75 it'd almost be worth getting a set just to see.

Get yourself an old Enfield or a Bonnie, sling these over the seat, and you're ready to hit the road.

After breaking my pannier in Mongolia, I found a pair of those in surplus army shop in Ulaanbataar. Bought a set for 2 USD (yes super cheap). I just attached them at my front crash bar, now, 10000 km later I still have them there.

A friend also give me his Wolfman Luggage in UB. They are also super reliable, better then the swiss army bag but of course a bit more expensive, 70 usd I believe, but worth the expense.
