Headlight beam converter- do bike specific ones exist?

I will be riding my UK bike to Europe in the summer and have read that it is compulsory that i fit a headlight beam converter. I have seen the converter stickers for cars being sold, but never a bike specific one, does one exist.

Could i just use one like this:

Good point..........

I read the same sort of thing somewhere and looked around for some bike specific ones last year for a Europe trip. Couldn't find any so just bought a random car set from Halfords and slapped them on where I guessed they should go. I don't think they made any difference to my lights (Wee Strom, so sodding bright anyway!), I just figured that as long as the law could see I had a set on there it would be ok. To be honest they're still on there!

You can fit car ones to a bike, and I have done in the past, but to be honest they are awful expensive for a piece of sticky plastic (and they leave a really manky, sticky residue on your headlight). These days I would just stick some electrical tape over the correct portion of headlight. Does exactly the same job for pennies rather than pounds.

Matt :)

You wouldn't have a picture of where to put the tape would you??

Spoke to a Scottish lad at Newcastle docks who had those on an older Triumph Sprint. Looks ok as look as you've got flat lenses on your lights.

I've used these before...

Save And Drive - Product Information

...and they're absolute rubbish. I've got a Kawasaki ZX6-R J1 and they just wouldn't stay on properly due to the curvature of the lamp lens cover.

Pulled them off after a day as I didn't like the risk of one hitting me in the face at 100mph+ if it came off. I them replaced them with black duct tape stuck over the lower left quarter of both lights which is exactly what I'll be doing again this year.

Some people just don't bother but I was told (by the lad with the Triumph mentioned above) that as long as it looks like you've made some kind of effort, you'll be ok.
