I've just bought an Africa Twin with the infamous hard seat.When I bounced on the seat,all that happened was that the suspension compressed.Ugh.
Using the original method I cut 9 holes , 3 rows of one inch holes ~ O O O

These holes are under the very thick part of the riders seat,with a gap between each hole of one and a half inches . The holes are two inches deep , leaving plenty of foam above . Outcome is a far more comfortable seat , but I can glue back some of the little rods of foam if necessary .
