I put Daerr panniers on my Dakar recently and love them. The price cannot be beat as they were far cheaper than any other options even with shipping all the way from Germany to my home in Alaska. Customer service is good too, all responses to my questions within 24 hours. Mine are fitted to Happy Trails racks. Only mods I did was to add strap loops to the lids (also from Daerr) and I sprayed the insides with a couple coats of bedliner. I also picked up the optional locks and while not super secure they aren't bad either and you can still add an additional padlock if you are really worried about such things. They've been in rainstorms a few times and no leaking at all. If I remember correctly my grand total for the two panniers, two locks, 8 strap loops, a t-shirt adn shipping to Alaska was slightly under $300 US dollars. With most of the other brands you'd be lucky to get one pannier for that price.

daer alu panniers

Copy that

I lived in Muenchen for many years and travelled all over Europe using these panniers on my 650 gs
I also have an extra large alu top box that must be over 50 litres and cost less than 100 euros if I remember correctly.
I am in Australia now but when I return to Europe I will use Daer again for all my motorcycle touring needs.

Thanks

Thanks Kev, Never knew you could do that. Brill.

DAVSATO 10 Jun 2007 10:59

bargain!

these look great, especially at that price.

if the locks arent that secure, well, all the little tweaks and strap loops and making them fit your bike is half the fun, to me, anyway.

scottdc, $300 is an absolute steal, if i could get a set of these past the English taxman for £150gbp i would drop dead in surprise.

forestry 10 Jun 2007 13:50

Taxman

DAVSATO as they are shipped from EU country their should be no tax implications.

DAVSATO 13 Jun 2007 18:10

tell that to the postman who wouldnt give me my MRA screen from germany! prat took it back when i refused to pay vat duty, then it was thrown over the back fence a couple of days later when they realised they had made a mistake

1. Right click on mouse. OK.
2. Page Info? Nowhere to be seen.

Now what?

alexpezzi 25 Jun 2007 12:13

Try this

Try this:

-copy the site's URL from your address bar (Reisebedarf und Expeditionsausrüstung bei Därr Expeditionsservice in München) and paste it into Google
-hit search
-it will appear at the top of the page, instead of clicking on the link itself click on "translate this page":thumbup1:

Regards.

i cant find the boxes at all on the Darr website!
i know im a thick englishman, and we usually try and get by by shouting loudly and slowly at johnny foreigner, but the link at the beginning of this discussion used to go straight to them so whats going on?

Walkabout 5 Aug 2007 20:30

The link in the first post works OK for me; it took me straight to the Daerr webpage ( might be that you need a different browser?).

Following the links in the webpage gives the bike information:-

DÄRR - Trefferliste - Motorrad
