Fitting second hand Acerbis tank

Hi folks,
I'm in the process of fitting a second hand Acerbis tank very generously given to me by Freddo via this forum. I have a question about the petrol taps. The standard tank has one tap which feeds directly into the carb. The acerbis unit has 2 taps, one at the base of each 'wing' of the tank. I'm assuming that I need to get some kind of 'T' shaped joiner to join the pipes running from each tap? The single pipe thus running into the carb?
Should I then run the bike with both taps open or with only one open and use the bottom of the other wing as a reserve? I hope this makes sense.

Hi Matt,

Each tap will pick off fuel at a high or low level in the tank according to whether you have "on" or "res' respectively selected on the tap. You should run pipes from each to a "T" or "V" piece and then to the carb. If you want to insert a filter in the system you will probably find there is not much room between T-piece and carb. If so, get a pair of filters and place them close to the taps. They are cheap to buy. You can buy t-pieces from BSR-Aerotech and the like. Also try aquarium suppliers - they sell this stuff. Buy a couple as the are easy to break, especially when cold.
