Emergency Puncture Sealant

Hi!

Why should one not use that emergency puncture sealant stuff? I am talking of that stuff you "pump" into the tyre/tube. I think there is a version caled Slime or Green Slime. Something nice anyway!

I thought that this would be an easy and lightweight solutio till you get to the next town?

Thanks

Loads of opinions

Depends on your point of view, tubed or tubeless fitted, what kind of puncture you encur etc etc.

Try this for a range of opinions:-

You can also search for key words, such as "slime", and you will find a lot more discussion of this topic.

do you mean the foam in a little aerosol can? it makes a repair afterwards very hard, the patch will not stick where the foam has been.

are you on tubed tyres? i would always carry a spare tube and repair the punctured one sat down with a cold at the end of the day.

i use "punctureseal" and "ultraseal" in my tubeless tyres (can be used in tubes too) it has saved me from many punctures.
