Fournales suspension?

Anyone heard anything about this French suspension system? With no spring, the rely on air/nitrogen for that function, and speak of a pump to adjust for different "pre-load" situation. Any one got experience with these? I wonder if this is practical, considering that a pump is needed for adjustments....

well I have heard of Furnales and their performance in Rallye Bikes..

I suspect a key benefit is the fact that is quite a bit lighter comparing to a traditional shock.

I had an air shock (not a furnales one) on my HP2 which looked cool..! but changed it to a Wilbers sipmly because traditions shocks tend to be more reliable can take the overlanding abuse day after day and can be fixed / repaired easier than an air shock.

French air shox.... been around for a few decades...

Had a pair on my 1983 Kawasaki Z1000R2 (Lawson Rep)......

Were prone to leaking, but they were from the late 80's.

I know this an old fred but....
i use a Fournales on my bandit 12 with sidecar,
i cant fault the shock,its a fantastic bit of kit,never leaked and only needs pumping up if the bike is left stood for long periods of time and even then its not much,ive had mine about 5 years now and done countless miles,its very very light and well made,when i got it it said on the box 28 bar but i found that a bit too soft and im running it at about 35 bar,thats a lot of psi!!!!,you do need a pump though,with out this you are screwed,the only disadvantage with this shock is lack of back up should things go wrong,there are now about 4 dealers in the country,how many sevicing dealers i dont know probably one.

Fournales shocks are high quality ones with many advantages, the main one being the possibility to adjust pressure depending of the load (when switching from duo loaded bike to solo for example: there is no way to have right adjustment with spring shocks, but to make compromises).

To pump up a Fournales shock, you can use the same high pressure pump being used with mountain bikes suspension. Cheap and easy to find anywhere.

I agree that service may be an issue but you can buy/bring a service kit with on long trips.
