Bike parts shipped while traveling

I am curious to know if anyone has had bike parts shipped to them when they needed them while traveling? How long does it take? Do you stay in contact with one company or supplier? I am driving a 1995 KLR 650 I will most likely bring spare parts with me but if I need a part I dont have I will need to get it from somewhere and hopefully it wont take to long to get it. Any information will help, I am headed to TDR in South America in October.

Your experience will likely vary depending on the country you are in. I've had bits shipped to the UAE by registered post without major drama.

A friend had parts shipped via TNT to Ladakh, India. Her parents asked whether they would deliver from CH to Ladakh and were told "no problem". As usual, this statement indicates that the person concerned has no clue. The parts stayed in Delhi and had to be picked up in person, as no intl. courier co. seems to deliver to Ladakh or Kashmir.

Moral of story: before having parts shipped find out which co. has a local office in the area you are in. I don't know whether the post can be trusted in SA, check with locals.
