Anybody made original steel tank bigger?

As Acerbis no longer make their larger tank for the 88-91 Honda NX650 Dominator, I'm scouring eBay for a used one.

If one doesn't come available, has anyone had an original factory steel tank larger - extra lobes welded on etc? Not sure if this is feasible

Increasing the size of fuel tanks has been done for years buy racers for endurance roadracing. If your tank is steel strip can be welded in to raise the top ordown the middle to widen it.
