Post Any experience of cheap panniers on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aluminium-Pann...QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone bought these? are they any good, they seem rather cheap to me.
They have been advertising them for a while now, and seem to have good reaction from their buyers.
Any comments would be welcome.

Bill

ebay panniers

I contacted them for shipment to Oz and got a very prompt reply from Klaus. He said it would be 35 GBP by UPS, 65 GBP by air mail. I intend bidding for them in that case, 35 quid for shipping seems very reasonable and they look adequate although they're only 30 litres and are about an inch wider than most.

ebay panniers

I asked Klaus if they sell them as a "buy now" item and he said yes, at GBP165. They seem very good value as you get the mounts and custom internal bags.

They look a lot like copies of German Darrs boxes to me, but with a horizontal seam. Darrs were bashing out alu pans back when we were still figuring out how to turn an XT500 into a desert racer.

Way too big IMHO, but Darrs originals only cost around 90 euros + fitting kit

I too purchased a set of aluminium panniers from Klaus, They are really good quality for £160.00 per pair and they fitted straight on to my five star frame without any problems. Can definately reccomend. Just as good as others that are twice the price. i will add pics soon.

I've got a set for my Tenere and they fitted well onto my home bodged frame, (don't ask for pictures, the only way i'd show my welding is under thick mud in the dark)
The only comments I've got is they are a bit wide and could be a bit thicker, but for the money excellent value and Klaus couldn't be more helpful

The ebay link is too old. it refers to a post made in 2006.

Try searching ebay for panniers

I thought I had seen it a few days ago and now I cant find it

Will try and look later

Cheers
