alu Panniers
i try to build my own rack and Panniers i found some old amo case s and i want to make them to some nice Panniers but they are a bit Heavy das anybody know wat alu panniers weight??

Cant compare them!
I tried the same thing but found that the ammo boxes were way too heavy! I didnt even walk out the surplus shop with them. I made my own alli panniers with 2mm. The thing is... The rack and mounting to the rack is the hardest thing. If you are not prepared to put in the time and effort you will end up with two cr*p boxes hanging of the side of your bike! (my own experience)
The main reason why I gave up is because the edges and corners of the boxes were too sharp and I couldnt get a good weld job on the racks! Good luck Check out the shipping weight on some well known boxes...Hepco & becker, Touretech etc for the weights. |
