A tire election problem

hello, I'm equipping my bike for a panam trip on april to june '08, starting in santiago de chile and ending in L.A. and I will try to do a lot of dirt, may be 70%-30% and I will try to not change tires on road

I live in chile and I don't have to many options. I been reading in this forum about tires but you guys have more options...

for example here doesn't exist kenda tires, only for mountainbikes

the options I have are:

metzeler sahara (one of my favorites but for the price only)
conti twinduro (may be my favorit, but I think it will last less)
bridgestone (hard to find)
michelin (veeeeery expensive)

thanks for your help

Personally I prefer the Conti Twinduro to the Metzeler. The Conti has a fairly stiff carcass, meaning you can ride with reduced tyre pressure on bad roads without big risk of punctures. On my R80GS the rear tyre lasted for 12,000 kms, the front tyre was good for roughly 22,000 kms.

Besides that, the performance of the Twinduro is very good on dry and wet tarmac.
