Nothing exiting; a tool / jig for carpentry work. You get these mad ideas and sometimes you just need to run with them for a bit. Costs quite a lot of time and money to get to the stage where you realise it isn't going to get any further.

Still the important thing is you gave it a go and you're the wiser for it.

There are plenty of things that I thought might be worth getting a patent for but when you know patents, you realise that there are so many things that will never be used that are patented 'just in case'.

One of my ideas (when I was 15) was a centre stand (or side stand for that matter) that was lockable. The idea was to stop bikes from being ridden away so easily and act as a theft deterent. If anyone finds a way to make money from it then I reserve the right to ask for royalties.

Also your patent is only any good in countries that recognise it and then only if you have the huge ammounts of money needed to take someone to court if they infringe it.

The lockable stand is a good idea. I bet if you do a search, it's been done though.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events (22 this year!); we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
