At £17 plus small and light it looks like a sure fire winner for filtering smaller amounts of water.

ghardia is much cheaper than weight watchers and far more effective:scooter:

I had a quick skim of the ad. I was alright with it, until I saw:

"Instant removal of disease causes that may be found in water. Harmful bacteria, protozoa, schistomas and viruses. These include cryptosporidium occysts, giardia, E-coli, viruses , anthrax"

The claim of virus removal means they're lying. Simple. Makes me wonder what else they're lying about.

I guess this derives from the LifeStraw from Vestergaard-Frandsen, the inventors if I am right. It's mainly intended for personal usage by people living in Africa communities.

Pros: very cheap (if I recall, ca. 1-2€), light, easy to carry, very simple to use.
Cons: not as effective, very slow to drink from it.

So, it is muuuuch better than nothing in those areas, but not as good as the other systems you may purchase here. It may be good to carry in your backpack when going hiking in Europe, as a back-up, just in case.

But I would not save on that (money/space) and would go for a proper device if you plan to drink from anywhere in "less developed countries".
