TTR250 Tank

Does anyone know if there is a larger fuel tank available for a TTR250 2003 model? I cannot find one anywhere.

Thanks.:helpsmilie:

22 litres!

Lois Pryce used one on her TTR250 for her African trip - I believe it was the Acerbis tank for the Honda XR250/400 but with modified mounting brackets to fit the TTR frame (should be simple enough, they are a pair of flat alloy plates)...

There was a feature/interview with her in TBM magazine a few months ago as I recall, or perhaps you can contact her through her website?

If you want one of those Acerbis 22 litre tanks for an XR250/400, I might just have one for sale - it's cosmetically well used, but still in good condition...

Hi heres some more info on the XR tank options - and lots of useful other tips.

YAMAHA TTR250 TRAIL and OFFROAD MOTORCYCLE FAQ

Try Bavins of Diss (Norfolk) - they are pretty helpful Yamaha guys - I think they used to do Acerbis tanks - though it will be pretty expensive.

The TTR is a great bike - my old 94 'Raid' had over 75,000 kms on the clock before i sold it !

Thanks Jenny...

Jenny, thanks for the reply, sorry can't PM yet (should be able to after this post) Yep, I guess it is a bit far away. Never mind. Do you have a model/make for the tank and I can explore a bit closer to home?

Cheers.

Julian.

I don't have the actual part number, but it's the Acerbis 22 litre tank for the XR250/400 (and I think it fits the XR600 as well).

If you follow the link Gipper posted, it seems you don't even have to change the Acerbis mounting brackets, just use the Yamaha bolts and it fits straight on!

The tank has twin petcocks (fuel taps for those who aren't American) which means you can drain both sides equally. I've used my for a trip to Morocco and to the Pyrenees last year, and it is great - not too wide (no radiators to go round of course) and not too bulky/heavy, although it does take a little getting used too, the first time you fill it right up!
