Tire repairs

I stopped by to help a fellow rider with a flat tire and he did have a Stop N Go tire plug system so we both read the manual and after few minutes everything was fix and he was ready to leave. I never use the system and was curious about you guys , I am still using the good old system ( much smaller ) and I like the glue system .
but what is your opinion.

I've used the Stop N Go system, and rate it highly, even used it in a car tyre, the plug stayed in until the tyre was worn out.

Stop'n'go all the way for me.

Only time the mushroom plugs didn't work was when I had a slash of 4-5cm on the front tyre. With 4 plugs the puncture held for another 100kms (on Indian roads triple that!) and was able to change the tyre.

No mess no glue and IMHO it's very very reliable for straight forward punctures by a nail or screw, which are the most common.

We've now been using the Stop'n'go for over 60,000kms and have repaired 7 punctures with them and only one, as said above didn't hold.

Grant Johnson gave a really good demo on tyre changing & puncture repair, he also has done a dvd to show you how to...

I pers carry 3 tyre repair kits.

1) Stop & Go (mushroom plug type no glue required All Products : Tyre Repair Kits, Repairs any tyre in minutes without tyre removal (they now do one called a dynaplugg as well)

2) Rema Tip Top plug LOTTS of glue requierd as given out in the BMW kit & issued to AA & RAC jocke.selincite.com/bikes/puncture-repair-kits (just for photo use)

3) Wiggly worms or rat's tails type like 2 lots of glue requierd http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...tml?category=2 (I got mine from Pro air complements MCN as a BD pressie)

I carry a cycle hand pump as well, I do have the cartridges but never yet needed them.

On a pers note I have seen the AA use (2) to a good use.

all of these will plug sa hole but will depend on the size of the hole

At 17.00 GMT
I have just spoken to Rema Tip Top who make the BMW, AA & RAC kits, they do not ussally sell to gen public but must of been my lucky day.

He has said for a Box of bungs (50) for this £22.50, (not inc vat) + 7.50 p&p & tubres of the glue 4g 50p

so if we could get a group of bodies wanting some, Im willing to foot the original bill, divide it between us all.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
