Tank bag/rucksack with panniers????

hi there,
I am looking for a durable tank bag, ideally with panniers that can also be used as a ruck sack. Other than touratech's VP45 and Hein Gericke's now seemingly unavailable tank bag with panniers, there doesnt seem to be much out there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Backpacks as tank panniers

I used rucksac (backpack) as the tank pannier instead of trying to find tank panniers that would work as rucksac (backpack). For two reasons, this is usually cheaper and they are more comfortable when wearing them off the bike.

I found that if the backpacks (in this case camelbacks) were fitted with waist straps that clicked into place that this was perfect for attachting to the frame of the bike. I'd show you some photos but they got stolen when in Manali, after that I replaced them with normal backpacks but the zip broke. So I'm still looking for the right rugged style backpack that I could use also as a tank pannier. I know it's always going to be a compromise but it'll happen one day soon enough and then I'll post my photos.

In the meantime let us know what you decide to go with and how it works out for you.

I can confirm that the FAMSA quality is as good as it's always been, the materials and construction haven't changed at all and the bags are all still made in the same factory in Italy thay always have.
