Givi Momokey Luggage

I've recently bought some second hand Givi Monokey luggage off Ebay at a great price. It came with the Wringrack and fitting kit for the Bandit GSF1200 (96-00), which I thought would fit my Bandit GSF600 (2001) but it didn't. Givi no longer stock the fitting kit for my bike model or indeed the 1200 so I sold it on Ebay, they are quite rare and hard to get hold of.

So I bought a Givi Universal Fitting Kit (Y127) and thought I'd use that... It arrived and is way too complicated for me and to be honest the Wingrack is not at all pleasing to the eye when the cases are off. So I sold them both on Ebay as well. I then bought the Givi Monorack and M3 base plate kit (522F) for the Top case and the Givi Tubular Pannier Rack (PL522). They're much sleeker and nicer looking. I should have just gone with these in the first place.

They were incredibly easy to fit and they come with all the necessary bolts and bits - in fact you'll have bits left over if you use both kits. The only trouble I had was the cross brace, which I ended up cross threading but I've returned said item so hopefully they'll replace it for free. In the meantime its plenty strong enough, at least temporarily, without it. They Pannier rack has two brackets that stick out at the rear for attaching indicators as the bike ones are a little hard to see with the cases on. If anyone can reccomend any indicators for it I'd be grateful.

I have to say I am really impressed with it all. It looks good and is very strong and sturdy. I don't plan on doing any off roading so it should be fit for the job. I should get all my camping gear in the two panniers leaving my topbox free for dumping jacket, helmet and gloves when off the bike or for the consumables I buy on the road.

Try to remember not to overload the topbox by too much. I snapped one of the side rails supporting the topbox after riding home with barrels & pistons for a T140v in the topbox along with several other bits of metal.

Oh the finish on mine was crap too, the metal bits needed spraying within a few months as the metal rusted under the paint!

Iv had GIVI monokey luggage on a few bikes...

My biggest gripe is that the luggage is always really high and sits really far back which is horrible for the handling. I know it's just to accomodate pillion. but still.......

Id have plastic boxes over heavy aluminium stuff though.

Well I've had the luggage on now for a few months and I have to say that im incredibly happy with them. They're spacious, secure enough, watertight and not found any detrimental effect on handling. I tend not to use the top box, all my gear easily goes into the two panniers. I leave the top box to dump riding gear and when i stop to buy supplies ()... Not had any problems with corrosion yet but I do tend to cover her up in the rain. I'm lucky really my bandit is pretty clean of rust considering they're renowned for it.

Downside is of course that the rear end is WIDE so not so much filtering.

Should you not relocate your rear indicators?
Get a pair of the smallest Givi panniers for everyday use when you don`t need the capacity. They are much more narrow and cheap to buy as well.
