Review: Airoh Helmet/Hein Gericke Gear

Christmas in just around the corner, and we all deserve a treat.....

Airoh S4 Helmet: great value for money, ACU Gold Approved, fantastic fit, 'wide' visability, customize-able; you can have a enduro style, on road and off road styles. Great looking too.

****/5

Airoh S4 : Welcome to BIKEGEAR, helmets, jackets, leathers, all the bike gear at low low prices!.

Hein Gericke Race Jacket: short fit, not ideal for days in the highlands, that being said though it is warm when cold, and cold when warm. Waterproof Sheltex breathable membrane and all that jazz, with a race look thats not too 'keen'. Protection in all the right places, although not bulletproof. (Just) good value.

****/5

Hein Gericke (UK) Ltd.

Hein Gericke Boost Pants: Outstanding fit, very comfy with two layers. Waterproof tot he max, will literally shake off and drops of rain and be bone dry. Good value for money (again).

*****/5

Hein Gericke (UK) Ltd.

Good hunting, much love and peace out.

Airoh S4

I bought one of these a while back to have a cheaper 2nd helmet. It´s basicly a good lid for the price range it´s in,but there are some things that could be better.
The visor seal is poor, there is quite a lot of wind noise specialy if you take off the peak and use the helmet in "street" mode. With the peak on it "whistles" a bit but not more than other offroad helmets.

The lineing is quite comfortable but on longer rides I have noticed that it starts pressing on the top of my head. I think they made the went chanels a bit too big and the liner is a bit on the thin side on top of the head.Of course not two heads are the same so this can be just me.
I put a pice of thin foam (3mm) under the liner and now it´s much better, this doesn´t seem to affect ventilation, at least not that I have noticed.

Im going to fit speakers for my comm system in it soon, that might help to reduse the noise level a bit since the area around the ear will become tighter.

All in all I like it, it does the job.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
