Luggaga rack to fit motor on car..
hi there,
Didnt know on wich forum to post this message.. Looks like i am going to travel this summer in europe. Because i have more then a year and i want to combine working with enjoyment, I was thinking of doing this with a small van (my personal hotel) but didnt want to leave my Yamaha ttr250 (113 kg) at home. Does anybody has info on luggage racks that you can fit on the back of a van? or other tips? anything welcome.. thanks greetz niels |
Don't know where you would start to look for them but they are available, there are at least 2 different types...
1) Fits onto the actual Tow Ball - of a tow brackets... 2) Fits onto the tow bracket - small platform bit like a bike trailer for thew bike to sit on... Depends on your van I guess but they are both going to get in the way of your back door.. Maybe a trailer is an easier option, small one bike trailer - then you can lock both of them up in Campsites etc if you want to go off for a while.. Hope this help, Tony. http://www.dovetailmanufacturing.com...lmotorbike.gif OR: http://www.towbarwarehouse.co.uk/ima...arge/MBR01.jpg try these People £130 for a tow bar mounted system.... Save Lots of Money, Have more fun, leave the van at home and just ride the TTR 250 - mine did 75,000 Km with no problems before I sold it - travel light an enjoy.....

Thanks a lot guys,
Didnt buy the van yet, at the moment i am driving back home from india on my ttr. Looking at the construction from the pictures you send me Tony, i can maybe make it myself... The thing is that with a cheap van i can take more stuff (cooking gear,..) and save money on the expensive costs of hotels or lodges. Europe is just to damn expensive.. Thanks a lot greetz niels |
Hi Niels
Glad to hear your trip going ok - how is the TTR doing ? Yas the racks are not to hard to make up - though most of the ones you buy are quite flimsy - so make sure you build it strong !!! Cheers Grif |
hi grif,
the ttr is doing well. i realy enjoyed it in india, nepal and pakistan. here in iran the roads are from a higher level and i miss a little bit of hp now.. but we make it, on a slower paste. :-) i will send you a pic from my selfmate 'rack' creation when its ready.. cheers and greetz niels |
