Input on Michelin Sirac tires...?

I am going down through Central America soon on my KTM 620 and thinking of putting a set of Mechelin Siracs on for the trip. Anyone have any input on those or a similar tire? The trip will be 85% to 95% on paved roads with an occasional foray onto the dirt roads. I'm looking for a smooth ride on the pavement with with moderate to decent handling on the dirt roads!

I had very good milage from my Siracs. The rear gave 18000 kilometres or something like it. I ran very high tyre presures, and rode quite slowly, but the bike was very heavy. They are not too good in mud!

I fitted Siracs to my Africa Twin in the Baja and the rear is looking bald now after a little more than 6000 miles on the run down to Costa Rica.

Previously I used Bridgestone Trailwings and would get 10000+ miles from a set.

I cannot recommend this tyre on either performance, wear or cost.

Hi

My KTM 640 has an 18 inch rear and finding good high mileage tyres is a pain.

Michelin Uk's site doesnt specify an 140/80 18 Sirac. (http://www.michelin.co.uk/uk/front/a...age=40&lang=EN)

Only these:

120/90 – 17 64T TT REAR
130/80 –17 65T TT REAR
410 – 18 60R TT REAR
460 – 18 63T TT REAR
110/80 – 18 58R TT REAR
120/80 – 18 62T TT REAR
275 – 21 45R TT FRONT
300 – 21 51T TT FRONT
80/90 –21 48R TT FRONT
90/90 – 21 54T TT FRONT

I'd suggest Pirelli MT90 AT's which are now standard fitment on the 640's and 950's.

Try and get European (12,000 miles) rather than Brazilian (8,000) ones's.

They should be perfect for what you say you want to do. I find they last the longest on the road.

i have a table on my site of whose tyres will fit a 640:

Under: bike / maintenance / tyre options
