Hein Gericke Taureg Jacket

Hi,
Hein Gericke Taureg Trail Jkt.
Bought it about six months ago. It was £90.
Just rode with it to Morroco and Iran. Really good value. Seems really strongly made and the vents work reasonably well even in the hottest temps. Hit the ground quite hard in Romania suffering no ill effects to upper body, the elbow and shoulder pads seem to work quite well!
Looks even cooler the muckier it gets.
The only fault with it is the collar is a bit stiff. Otherwise very comfy. See:

We have exactly the same jackets and matching trousers. Really comfortable and well ventilated. No gortex or inner liner so perfect for the layers approach of adding a jumper or overalls.

Nice price too compared to most other bike clothing.

Glad to hear they are holding up in the "really world"

I use one of these most the time even in the winter - yes you heard me right in winter (I have a Rucca, and other goretex stuff that i sometimes use) but find a few good layers and a waterproof outer jacket over this beat most gortex lined stuff - I hate the way so called waterproof goretex gear weighs a ton when its wet , feels very cold and is a killer if your camping and put it in a tent wet, Nylon oversuit keeps the wet outside the tuareg gives the layer of protection and a mountain equip down jacket and wooly jumper all the warmth in the world. (also cheat with a electric vest as wel) But in the summer its just a great lightweight all round jacket that lets loads of air through but can be layered up really well. I use BMW summer pants with it as these are water resistant cordura but really let the air through and very comfy also look like a pair of ordinary pants off the bike they are better than the Heine Gerick Tuareg matching pants which are a bit loud in the colour pattern and a bit sweaty in the heat being a polyester based fabric.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
