Half price Helinox Chairs ??

These look VERY similar to to helinox.

My guess is that they come from the same factory but without the Touratech effect.

Ie.... Put a stamp on it and charge twice the price

Worth a punt ??

Ted - there are tent poles and there are tent poles... you'd no want carbon fiber one here... certainly not cheap ones.

I'm not suggesting this IS a helinox. Or that it is as good.

However, without someone trying and comparing, we will never know.

There is no way a genuine helinox needs to cost anywhere near what they do... They probably cost about £3 each to make in a factory in China.

Ted well spotted, agree with the Touratech brand selling everything for a ridicolously inflated price, I highlighted a few items a while ago that where half the price elsewhere.

These seats look good but I would still want to pay far less £3 would be far more pleasing and at that price you can always give the thing away as a gift I like my thermarest chair kit (present that I couldnt justify the cost of myself) but it still means being on the ground which is not ideal with bugs about and its a bit of a pain fitting the struts each time you use it

Ok, I've bitten the bullet and ordered one.

It will be interesting to see if I get hit with any import taxes etc.

Good. Interested to hear of the result. Not about the taxes, about the chair.

Get something like this and lean against the seat of your bike or something like that:

Hi Gear Ohio Camping Stool | GO Outdoors

Even £36 is an extortionaite amount of money on such a simple piece of kit. The above are comfy enough, they pack small, they're light and are pretty strong.

Sorry for the delay as I've been a bit busy through work unfortunately. The chair arrived Last Tuesday (22nd Oct) so ten days from purchase to my doorstep, it was free delivery from HK also. Let me also say I don't have the 'genuine' chair to compare with, just images and videos available on-line.

The chair arrived well packaged and came in this case.

The frame assembles in seconds.

Then stretch the the material over the frame to complete the seat. You can see the frame is a different shade of blue from the one on the material.

The plastic parts where the frame locks into seem well made.

A couple of more angles.

I've got to say I'm pretty please with the chair so far but only time will tell how it will hold up. I sat on it for a few hours yesterday watching the F1 practice (hardcore, I know) giving it a shake and trying to put it under as much stress as my 12st frame could give it but it didn't crack or snap nor did I feel the need to gently lower myself into it.

So is it just an unbranded Helinox? From looking at the pictures on-line I would say not completely, the carry bag and the seat material whilst unbranded look remarkably similar, however its very clear that the frame isn't 'The real McCoy' but still seems up to the job so far.

Don't tell Ted because so far it appears we may be the two tightest dudes on here, but we popped for a couple of "The Real McCoys" at the HU meet and I can't see a nickel's difference in the connectors from here.

Different storage bag and different liddle rubber feets, The letters "DAC" appear faintly in the plastic castings of the Real McCoys, if you're looking for clues that would indicate like items.

Dam right I'm cheap

£50 saved here is another £50 to spend having a great time somewhere else
