Gaerne SG10 boots - worth the $?

Im looking to buy a new set of boots after my alpinestars have lasted a mere 4 months :censored:

People are rating these as the dogs doodars. Im a little skeptical of spending that amount of cash on a pair of boots as i'm hard pushed to spend it on a helmet.

Talking from experience - would you say they're worth the cash? What are they like fitment wise in comparison to a tech7? (I find most moto-x boots a narrow fit and usualy tend to buy a size larger than i'd normally wear).

Do they have any waterproof style membrane in them, like other gaerne boots do? Easy to break in? Protective?

Any advice will be gratefully received

:D

Sg10

I own a pair and loved them , they have about 20000 miles ( mostly off road) great boots if you love confort , very easy to break in,the boots is very protective but not waterproof at all,a bit bulky if you drive a road bike and a bit heavy if you walk a lot.

Well I got me some...and wow. Makes my alpinestars feel like flip flops. Very quick to break in (read minutes rather than weeks) and loving the secure feel.

Not ridden them in the wet tho...yet...

SG-10 worth every penny

Worn the SG10s every day for the past few months and I have to say, they are sensational. Everyone has a different taste and take, but if you are serious about safety, there is no way I would do a trip like this (Bolivia), without MX boots. SG-10s for me were worth every cent.

I got t-boned by a kamakazee Peruvian biker on the way back from Manu, Peru. He was riding the wrong side of a dirt mountain road on a blind corner. My foot and footpeg took the hit which destroyed his front rim. I hobbled away without real damage to my bike. I was sure I had fractured my foot at the time, but lucky escape. I avoided serious injury because I was wearing moon boots. Many a woman has also commented on how fashionable SG-10s are. Throw away your hiking boots and buy some or something similar.

Alpine and Gearne

I have had Alpine Star Tech 6's for all of our journey so far. 6 years on the road (or rather off road) - strong durable - held togther.
my husband uses Gearne SG10's -the same applies. we take them on some really rough tracks. They have held up with the full weight of our heavy bikes and protcted us in some dire situations.
they are not waterproof but you can get SealSkinz socks to wear when needed.
they dont take too long to wear-in but you do need to 'loosen' them up a bit!

see our site for pics etc. and this may help

yep!

I loved my sg10's but managed to lose them from the back nof my truck on the way to a race in oregon. bummer, huh? great value in a boot+quick break-in. I'm wearing tech 8's now and question the cost. I think i liked the sg's better.
