Thumbs up Exped skylight Easy Solar Torch

What a great bit of Kit. I got this torch as a gift, which was nice cause at £20 it was a bit pricey but now I have it I would recomend it to anyone.

Its compact but bomb proof and I keep it on my keys so I always have a light with me. Its solar powered so if its light its being charged.
10 year warranty too.

Great back up on any trip and very good solo for light weight camping.

I have used this daily since august now and it is brilliant. I take it everywhere and it always works great if the power drops it flashes so just leave it out and its fully charged up. If you were considering one but put off by the high price get someone else to buy it you like I did.

Thumbs down just over 18 months old and it failed me

Hi folks just a quick update my torch served me well and in over 18 months I never had to buy any batteries which was great.

However the torch recently malfunctioned and would not stay on, it may have been a fault with the switch but, after a bit of digging around on the interweb I chased up Exped whom wernt too helpful, however i managed to pass the mission across to Lyons the Uk distrubuter.

Joe helped me out no end and i posted the torch off. It turns out there was probably a fault with an inbuilt chip. This could be repaired but may take some time.

Exped have dropped this torch from their line, which makes me think they have no faith in it.

Joe kindly offered me an alternative product so i am now the proud owner of a petzl E lite. Initial synopsis is very good although its slightly bigger than the Exped torch it has many features and seems to be a far more useful product.

The downsize is I now need to buy batteries again, but I know have a compact torch that can cut it with much bigger units and has many uses. so thumbs down to exped and thumbs up to Lyons and petzl.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
