Excellent Bead Breaker

At last someone has produced a lightweight bead breaker that actually works. It's by Motion Pro. My tubeless tires are always very difficult in breaking the bead but together with their Bead Buddy device it's very straight forward. Job done on first try just minutes after taking out of the box. Both tools only weigh 360 grams. I use glass cleaner as a lube and a rubber mallet always helps. The other end of the tools can also be used as tire levers which I used to successfully dismount the tire completely. A little, tiny bit short, though.
Cleverly designed, highly recommended for travel.

(yes, I know there's other methods - including the sidestand - but this seems so simple (and light). I can't do the sidestand trick when traveling alone)

Have you got a link? Can't find them on the Motion Pro site.

Tyre Tools - Tools

Pity they wouldn't work with cast wheels. Lindsay.

That only has the 'bead buddy' thing as far as I can see, not the bead breaker

I got mine from Adventure Designs - http://www.advdesigns.com/betibebrandl.html who will mail overseas. US79.99 and $14.99 for the Bead Buddy.
I'm not familiar with cast wheels. What's different?

Thanks for the pics. Looks useful. It's listed on the motionpro site:

http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/08-0519/

The heel of my boot is my bead buddy. But them I'm a minimalist and don't ride tubeless tires. This looks like it would be quite useful for breaking the stubborn bead when changing stiff walled tubeless tires in lieu of a C-clamp or sidestand.

I do love motionpro tools. Love their trailtool. Love their lightweight tire irons with axle nut wrench end. Their compact chain breaker is okay as well. Not great, but okay.

Cheers,
John Downs

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
