I don't think i've experiences such poor quality with any other large brand..

New waterproof document wallets split the first time I opened them..

My new backpacker tent might as well be a teabag !

Heed my warning and save your money !!!!

Which tent is it? Have you contacted Gelert themselves, from what I have read on the internet they are quite good at replacing faulty kit.

Unless you plan to submerge it, the 1 litre freezer zip-bags are very good for that...

Still raining in your neck of the woods then Ted ? :stormy:

Which tent was it?

I have bought some of their stuff but I've always been a bit wary - the get what you pay for principle I suppose. My daughter used some of their stuff for her Duke of Edinburgh expedition last year without any problem but I've always thought of it as summer festival level kit. That said said, some of the really cheap imports that my local caravan centre stocks is only fit for putting up inside a bigger tent and makes Gelert look good!

Single man backpacker one. Single Skin. It might as well be made of paper. The zips are awful, the stitching is really poor and it just feels really cheap and tatty. I've got better £9.99 ASDA tents.

I bought it off a mate BRAND NEW , unused ! Way out of warrenty now and I dont have a reciept etc.

you get what you pay for generally. gelert is a bit 'value', (although not cheap!) made for leisure campers rather than serious expeditions. sort of stuff you get in argos and halfords

Aye, you're right there... It's not cheap as it should be though. The quality is pretty awful.

I think a single skin tent isn't best thing for Africa, unless you've a tarp for shade. I've never used gelert never liked the look of it, lightweight in the worst way.

I won't be using it now..... It's a POS !! I was goin to use it with my tarp.

I have a new Vango Tempest 200 which I love.. It's twice the packed size of the Gelert but 10x the quality. I don't have the space to take my tarp now though :(

could you use the tent inner (if you get a tent with seperate fly) as a mossie net/sleeping area with tarp over the top for shade?
