Want a set of Michy T63's or failing that (or if they are silly pricey) TKC80's.

Nobody seems to stock much of either...so wheres your tip for the cheapest mail orders treads!

Not sure about those tyres you mention but I have just decided to fit some of these to my Yamaha XT600E - Trellesport

Apparently, these tyres are used by both the Swedish Army and the British Army. They are a 50% Road 50% Offroad tyre and both front and rear are very reasonably priced - Front £36 Rear £49 which seems good value.

I was told about these tyres by my son who is in the T.A (3 PWRR).

With regard to the Continental TKC80's I know that the Long Way Round /Down team insisted on using these to the utter consternation of their main sponsor!

If you're not set on mail order I can't recommend Essential Rubber in North London - stunning prices (stilll haven't found cheaper) and they're fast.

They don't have a website, but a quick google will result in their address and numbers.

I was passed this website by a fellow on another forum for GS's. The site is Motorcycle tyres - online shop -

Its a Dutch company, but the link is to the England writing page, innit!

I got a stack of tyres for seriously good money: you can pay by C.Card or Paypal, and delivery time was quick.

As for the tyres, do consider Hieidenau K62s. Ludicrously cheap for a road going knobbly and allegedly quite good off-road. Margus, on this site has ridden them on his bike, on and off road and is pleased, IIRR. A bit iffy in the wet, but what knobbly types aren't?

I bought a set for my GS, as well as TKCs. Never ghot a chance to try them as the bike got written off before the old tyres were up.

If you live anywhere near S-west london, I know a independant motorcycle shop that fits tyres too: chgeaper than a tyre shop and balances too: wimbledon motorcycles.

are the trellesport the same tyres as the trellborgs if so i had them on my xr very hard wearing ,with preatty good feedback from the road for such a trail based tyre

YES indeed indeed, they are one of the same (Trelleborgs and Trellesports that is)

Had them put on last week ready for the good weather. They look nice and I have spoken to a few people who use them all of whom rate them highly. If it's good enough for our brave lads in Iraq and Afganistan then it's good enough for me too...

I just bought a set of Pirelli MT21's from Busters Busters Motorcycle Accessories for £83 front and rear for my tenere....

I also bought a set of Trelleborgs T644 (The one's mentioned earlier), that should be my tyres sorted for my trip, and cheap too...

Trelleborgs for the rough tracks/dirt roads/tarmac and the MT21's for the meatyer stuff later on in the trip....

I got both my Trelleborgs (front and rear) for £80 from an Army contact. It was all above board and seemed a fair deal... Thats about a full £50 saving on Contis!

Been out today in the wet and they are very stable tyres on tarmac. Offroad they performed well although I didn't get the bike very dirty! They look the part too.

I am told that they have a small but dedicated following and that sales are increasing all the time as word gets around.

look under road tyres and a set of TKC80s for a 130/80/17 is £54.99 and a 90/90/21 is £45.99 and cost of shipping to Norn Iron was £5 so i take it to london would be the same. But can any one tell me what the S and T type of tyre are? whats the difference as there is a price difference of near a tenner in the front and a tenner in the rear???

Depends on where it occurs in the sequence of letters/numbers.

But it could be the speed rating? T will be somewhat faster 190km/h S= 180 km/h .. unless the T is for Tube .. there could also be two numbers - like 68 .. that is the load rating .. you should be able to look this up on the manufacture web site ..
