add audio system on bike

Hi guys

would like to gain more info from you all regarding how to have a audio system (basically is just speaker with audio input such as from mp3 player or Ipod)

While on bike, i think there are some main concerns on the audio system:
- whether the speaker can withstand with the weather or not
- the 'wind sound' during riding while reduce/interuped the hearing
- where and how to locate the speaker and mp3 player in order to avoid the vibration problem and durabality


I have some idea in mind, would be happy if somebody can share his idea as well:
- as i wish to have to mount the speaker at front (which pointing to the rider) so that the hearing would be better during riding. For this reason the speaker size is limited as handlebar is already with GPS gadget. As i really got no much knowledge on bike's speaker, is that we can use the normal speaker such as PC speaker which come in cheaper and powerful. I know that this kind of speaker cant withstand the weather, but how the bike's speaker? can it function well under the rain? Thus if i use the PC speaker, i will add 1 cover t cover it up during un-wanted condition such as raining.

I strongly recommend to instead get some good earphones (I use Shure E2C). They fit comfortably in your ear and are comfortable in the helmet. They help block out other road noise and you can keep the sound level at a more comfortable level. It is just a better system than using an external speaker.

how if i have a pillion and i would like to have communication with her while on the road?

But i think the ear piece is really a good idea

Dude,
Have a look at the Autocom 200 system. It provides intercom between rider and passenger and you can also plug an MP3 into it. The vox capability means that when you have music going it turns itself down when either of you speak. You can also plug 2 other devices into it such as satnav and phone (though why you'd want to be able to answer your phone on any trip is beyond me!).
It's not cheap at £200 sterling but is worth every penny. I have just come back from a Baltic tour with my girlfriend on the back and she loved that fact that she could listen to music on the boring highway bits.

Just wanted to put another vote in for the intercom idea. I picked up an Albrecht AE 500 (read about it from a suggestion on the HUBB) for about €120 and its been great. Easy to install, headphones and mic are comfortable, works well with conversations (i've tested up to about 130km/h and still could talk easily), can add on for bike-to-bike intercom and can add in mobile phone/gps/mp3 connections. I have my Ipod plugged in 90% of the time, again tested up to 130km/h and the sound quality is fine (the speakers don't reproduce the bass as well as better speakers, but they do fine). Also, as soon as you start speaking, the music drops off so you can still talk easily. Have found the intercom makes life a lot easier on the bike and helps pass the time

brother, the idea is good but the price really kills me......

As i search out at ebay, i plan to have a waterproof speaker with amplifier during and helmet speaker together. The waterproof speaker can be an great enjoyable tool during slow riding and helmet speaker is for long journey riding. All this may cost me less than USD 30


but i would appreciate if any one can recommend intercomm model which is in good price but well perform
