Question Camelbak / platypus: how to clean

Got a platypus bag I carry in my tank bag - works a treat.

Question: how can I sterlize/clean it. Gone a bit smelly guess I should have kept it dry when not in use.

Any tips please?

Wash with soap and water using a clean wash rag or brush on the interior, rinse well. Add 4 tablespoons or so of baking soda and fill with fresh water. Shake well. Screw cap on loosely to allow airpocket to be squeezed out. Squeeze solution through drinking tube as well. Let stand overnight if possible. Enjoy fresh new water storage!

or a mild solution of bleach...

such as MILTON STERILISING FLUID used for sterilising babied bottles works well, OR if you are gonna rinse it to death after use normal bleach, 1 tsp to 1 litre water and then rinse with water that has washing up liquid in then water with lemon juice then a rinse with clean water.

sounds like a lot of work? i know..... but i let a camelbak get mouldy once and had to go to all this to make sure it didn't taste like a dogs armpit. ( dont ask me how i know what a dogs armpit tastes like..ok? lol)

Camelback do a brush on the end of a long flexible spring for cleaning the inside of the supply tube. After you've got rid of the black specks with this it's another vote for Milton sterilising fluid.

Milton or similar

Go to Tesco and take a look in the baby food department for bottle sterilizing solutions. Camelback make a hanger which you put inside the bladder, holding it fully open so that it dries out properly.

Hollow practice golf balls are much cheaper than the Cambelbak hanger for drying. To get rid of the nasty taste, soak overnight with full-fat Coke, wash thoroughly and sterilize.
