bike to bike radio

Me and a couple of friends are planning a 3 month trip around europe and we're having problems deceiding what radios are best to get to communicate with each other.
We really want them to be powered by the bike as we don't want to keep buying batteries. Can anyone suggest a good radio set or ones that they have used in the past. all help appreciated.

A number of things here to consider.
Firstly Autocom are the best bike to bike radio systems there are But:

They are very expensive and complex.

For you and your mates the answer is easy go for Autocom if you can aford it.

For those travelling farther afield though:

Remember small radios are viewed in some countries (Africa middle esat the Stans ) as tyhe equipment of spys and terrorist and are therefore illegal and are confinscated where found. I would rather lose a £40-80 motorola than a £300 auto com.

Batteries can be overcome with on bike chagrers or buy 12v fitting kits so thats not a problem.

So my experince is got with a mid cost solution i.e. motorola PRC and some helmet kits with rechargable batteries.Try these:

My feeling is any radio will do. We use cheapisch stuff with rechargable batteries.

The tricky part is sound quality.
Having earsplugs with speakers build in to them make's a major difference.
On the speakers side there is the wind factor. Wich plays in at lower speeds then you expect. A good screen will help you to some speeds, but eventually you will have to go searching for a other solution. I haven't found a easy one yet.
