Tank panniers

Am looking for recommendations for tank panniers - I've had a couple of sets of Wolfman Tank Panniers in the past and they were great but are no longer for sale. Is anyone aware of any alternatives that can attach around the fuel tank, not onto crash bars?

Thanks

Ed

Like you I've had a few sets in the past - just rough and ready quality, nothing decent, but on the right bike they've worked well enough. Plus they keep your knees warmer on cold rides. There's some very 'entry level' Chinese stuff on eBay that I might consider for my 125 but not much other than that. Google comes up with pictures of throwover panniers being thrown over tanks but I'm not quite sure that's what you had in mind.

I ran a Givi tankring bag and it was super convenient. Moreso than one that uses magnets (quite model-dependent) and straps (hard to remove when you want to fill up).

If I was getting one today, I think my first choice would be a SW-Motech Pro City:

Not panniers as such, but I would feel super weird putting big heavy panniers on the side of my tank, which is not really a structural item.

I've found that the cheap ATV tank panniers available on Amazon or elsewhere work on my aftermarket tank on my DR650...

I made a few modifications to make them work a little better for me....

Sewed on tabs for a bungee cord around the front of the tank to keep them pulled forward off my knees....

Grommet installed as drain hole (the bags are pretty waterproof but the zippers are not- use zip lock bags for anything requiring waterproofness.)...

Sewed a couple of darts in the crosspiece to make it fit the tank a little better...

I like them.

What model of motorcycle do you have?

I have the Aerostitch competition tank panniers on my X Challenge and really like them. I definitely wouldn't want any larger size then that because they already interfere a little with my knees.
