Acerbis cracks
 

Hi,
I recently got given a free Acerbis tank for my XT through the HUBB. It was very generously sent to me without even asking for postage.
I've been riding around for a month or so with it and been very pleased until tonight when I spotted a network of cracks on one side of the tank.
The tank is a few years old and seen a bit of action but I inspected it thoroughly when it arrived and it looked to be in good condition. We've had a cold spell recently and I was wondering if this could have caused old impact damage to become visible? I can't think of anything else. Any thoughts/experiences welome on the subject.
The tank is quite patently knackered so I'm not looking for repair tips. I'm just curious as I thought these things were virtually indestructible. I'm also curious as I'm now taken with the whole big tank thing and thinking splashing out on a new one might be worth it.

Nothing is near indistructable these days. Not unless you want it to weigh and cost the earth. My Acerbis seems very sturdy but the plastic is more rigid than my old XR tank so big enough crashes will break it. Its probably seen a big fall and the good thing is that it DID survive. I wouldnt be put off buying another one as Acerbis tanks are going around the world on many bikes with few problems.

I know your not moning but at least it was free eh...Maybe the guy who gave it you got a new one for his because of a fall !!
