iblog software

Anyone help with information on setting up iblogger to work with access from internet cafes.
I'm new to the software after only downloading it last night.
So to keep it simple, I use an Apple/mac at home but don't want to take a laptop on our trip but would like to do some kind of web page for family and friends.
How do I set up the blog software on the idisc (Mac thingy) and then update and change thins on a PC in a cafe ?

All help greatly appreciated

Regards
Steve

My understanding is that iblogger is designed to be uploaded from your desktop/laptop computer.

VERY few internet cafes will allow you to connect your laptop to their system, so you have to make a direct connection to your isp by dialling in via a phone line at your hotel.

I think it's the wrong tool for this job. Great if you're working only from home, but not on the road.

Something like Movable Type that runs completely on the server, and you just enter text directly into it is better. You can prepare the text in advance on your laptop and copy it to a floppy for transferring at the internet cafe.

We use MT for our blogs. See Travellers Stories for examples.

We have been on the road for 2 years and iBlog works nicely for us. The templates allow us to integrate it to the rest of our web site and re-use the scripts and stylesheets.

We prepare the pages on the iBook and burn a CD with the entire web site, along with a copy of FileZilla for PC (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/). Then we go to the internet cafe, install FileZilla (only a few cafes don't let you install anything) and we upload the pages that have been modified.

The only complaint I have is that we are stuck with a relatively early version because the storage model has been changed since we left (and an upgrade would force us to update the entire web site, which we don't want to do while on the road).

Otherwise, it's a great program to have for those who have a Mac.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
