New Google translate Chrome extension allows you to learn a language and surf HUBB
 

Google just came out with an interesting google translate extension for their Chrome browser:

It allows you to surf the web and the extension will translate a few words of each article you are reading on the fly into another language of your choosing. You can adjust a slider to beginner, intermediate or advanced to determine the percentage of words on a webpage that get translated.

I just tried it on the HUBB in Spanish and set the dial to intermediate and am already learning more words. The key here is context. Seeing the words in context allows you to figure them out and slowly immerse yourself in the language. The words you can't figure out are flipped back to english when you click on them and you can even have them spoken to learn how they are pronounced.

The servers are getting hammered as everyone tries this out for the first time on May 3, 2012 so you may want to wait a while to try this out.

It was working instantly an hour ago and now is bogged down.

Typical Google beta.

Quite a useful tool though when they iron out the kinks.
