What do you guys do aside from public wi-fi spots?

I just read this fascinating page on Turkey using sim

I'm in India at the moment and using mobile internet via Idea, just purchase the usb stick insert sim and away you go. It's about £30 for sick and sim and £8 a month unlimited use.

Hope you are enjoying you trip Pete, I enjoyed looking at your site.

Is this the same process for most countries? I've only just bought a laptop and haven't even had a chance to try it where I live.

Have I got this right, buy a usb stick for laptop and insert sim into usb...............and you don't need mobile.

I'll be travelling through France, Italy, Greece, Turkey Syria and Jordan

Yeah, the usb stick is the phone if you see what I mean ? I'm not sure how compatible it is with other companies sims but it is just a standard sim so I would think that every new country you visit, buy sim for that country and insert into stick and away you go or you can use it international roaming it would cost quite a bit doing that though. Had no problem across Europe and Turkey are wifi mad, it depends on how much your going to use it, if your just checking email and a bit of surfing to find parts/general info then I wouldn't bother but if you are updating a web site or have to have internet when and where you please then go for it.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
