You can get program (actually ther are a few of them - different ones can do different/more things) to perform e-book reading .. PC or PDA .. don't know about 'smart phones' .. That way you have a more versitile device rather than a one function 'sony e-book reader' ?

? May be this should be under 'equipment' rather than 'communications' .. a book can communicate to you .. but how do you talk back? Effectivly that is

I have one of the Sony Readers and must say that it is a stunning piece of kit

The supplied software is a bit of a joke to be honest, but I use a freeware product called calibre for managing and converting my books.

The eInk screen is an absolute joy to read and I've been carrying the thing now for around three weeks whilst on the road with work and have only just had the battery meter drop by one bar (and the unit has not been plugged into the power in all that time so i'm not cheating).

There are other devices around which are cheaper and may support more/better formats, but for the desirability factor alone the Sony wins hands down in my book.

Stumpy.
