Bluetooth device wanted to fit ff helmet for GPS
 

This may be a really simple question but I can't seem to find the item I'm looking for and + it's always nice to get the bigger picture from those of you who know!

I'm looking for a simple bluetooth device to attach to my full face helmet, one that I can operate whilst riding. I only want it to connect to my GPS so I can hear directions and still concentrate on the road ahead. I don't want a bike to bike unit nor anything that will connect my phone/ music etc + I don't want to pay a fortune for it!

Sounds simply to me, any help as always gratefully received.....

Well, you will be out of luck. The only waterproof itens that are designed for bikers is intercoms. So, you don't need to use all the rest of the stuff, but that is the only way you will get Bluetooth sound from a GPS to your ears.

Well at least I can stop my fruitless search then! OK any simple items on the market that are recommended then?

I'm sure I've seen in helmet earphones that wire into the units output getting power from the unit, if you do find bluetooth earphones, I think they are heavy on batteries, but I can't find info on either......think I've seen it on here or xrv.org

At the BMWMOA rally in Redmond, OR Schberth had a booth with their C3 with a Bluetooth attachment. They will not be in the USA for a few months but I think that they are in GB and Europe.

Tescos do them at less than a tenner. They are a blue earplug that learns your gps. Ask at a tesco super store.

My solution to not buying a bike GPS / intercom system was that I purchased a relatively cheap car GPS which had a headphone jack.
Unfortunately, having ear plugs into my ears hurt after several miles - and it was very noisy.
I then purchased a Bluetooth Helmet only to discover the Bluetooth in my GPS would not emit the correct type of signal to communicate with a headset (different codes - too technical for me)!

So I then purchased a Bluetooth Sony gadget which plugs into the GPS headphone jack & converts it into a Bluetooth headset signal & it worked! But it is still noisy over 60mph.

Conclusion - save up and buy the proper stuff LOL :)

However, someone has just pointed me to Rocket Radio which has a headphone jack to plug into a GPS or similar system & rather than ear pieces has velcro flat headphones, all for £20 - so that may be my next trial as I'm still reluctant to buy a bike GPS... lol

Phoenix, I had a Tom Tom GPS unit, which would not charge properly. So I gave it to a mate down in the Birmingham area as he reconned he could get it going. I got a Garmin 550, which mates very well with my Bluetooth enabled helmet.
The point is that my mate managed to get the Tom Tom working OK. The unit uses a small Bluetooth gizmo that goes in your top pocket which in turn is connected to a small wire which goes into your helmet with a flat, small speaker. Worked well for me when working. I can get it back off my mate and its up for grabs. I'm in Huddersfield. Don't go on this site much at the moment (especially a my bike has just been stolen, I'm sulking!):(

Scala Solo Rider, attaches to helmet, links to satnav,mobile what ever.. It can be used to talk to other scala units if needed.. and I think it can be picked up in Maplins (UK) for under 70.00 these days....

The Vemar Jiano flip-up helmets have 2 channel built-in Bluetooth capability. I bought mine here: Motorcycle helmets and Motorcycle helmet - Helmet City They run $500 usd. I have one and the wife has one. I link to both my Garmin Zumo 660 and my wife's helmet at the same time, no problem. The sound quality is not the greatest for listening to music but it is fine for hearing the GPS turn directions and talking to my wife sitting behind me. :clap:

I have a BT Midland which hooks up to my iphone. I have Tom Tom sat nav on the phone and can play music which is interupted by directions. Avoid the Nolan as it can only be tethered with other Nolans. However, you can get an iphone app to tether different bluetooth systems together also.

Try Laser Ringo. 49 quid on internet shops and 39 on eBay.
Made by Laser Helmets. Not really good for open helmet above 40, but should work fine in full-face.
