aaaw ,c'mon Mike , aren't you being a bit too harsh on all those Gringo-international -style chain eateries?
For sure one can eat well and for less money at the small locally owned restaurants and taquerias .
But if Cyberbiker feels the need for some familiar fare now and then the well known and Mexican or Central American burger,pizza or chicken chains need not be spurned . You get to observe a different stratum of the local society and are supporting the local youth who work there.
Just don't go there everyday for three meals to overdose on the triple-sized "eight dollar burger" with supersized accompaniments.
The restaurants of VIPS,TOKS,CHICS and California and Sanborn's are not really "fast food" but are rather swanky and pricy, more in line with Denny's, attracting the more monied business folk . But they are good for an occasional visit,just for the experience. And VIPS does serve a pretty good bottomless cup of coffee ,does not itemize each cup on the
bill ----> coffee
cup emoticon required here, glug glugglug,glug.....donde estan las sanitarios. =)
But for Cyberbiker it is about the free wifi and that is not often found at the small eateries. Plus the washrooms are kept in pretty good condition- so it becomes a multi-purpose visit
Cyber, did you know that VIPS is operated by ,of all things WalMart? ( they also have a more Mexican chain called El Porton) It is a wonder that they do not grow the brand into the USA ( or do they already have a chain there ?)
