vehicle registration question Mexico

I blew through the border at sonoya and forgot to register my vehicle. can I do it here in caborca, or do I have to ride all the way back to the border?

Well if this is a serious question.... I think you already know the answer, of course you have to go back to the border and obtain a Vehicle import permit and a tourist card. You could also go back to km21 south of Nogales and get it there.
How does one just blow by a international border?

molly 23 Dec 2012 05:53

they just waved me through and never asked to see anything.

MikeMike 24 Dec 2012 03:46

Yes, that does happen.
Go back and do it correctly or you could be really sorry.

thanks for the replies. :)
I rode back to the border and got the visa.
for the registration, they told me to ride to just past caborca, where the banjercito was right at the checkpoint. very efficient.:scooter:

Its easy done. The Mexicans are a bit slack at their boarders . We crossed at Tecate and were in the town with out being stopped to even show our passports . That's the American's and Mexicans . We turned around and the thought we were going into America doh. 20 minutes later our passports were stamped and we were on our way.

Sjoerd Bakker 24 Dec 2012 21:56

The Mexican at not slack at the border.... They are being reasonable
and expect tourists coming in to be informed adults who should know what
is expected of them and then take correct measures . They are not so
paranoid and uptight as their US counterparts . Most of the folks you see crossing are locals who have no need for the paperwork .
If you tried idling straight through the US - side barricade slalom security course there is a good chance they might fire a cannon at you .
Ah the newcomers thrill and giddiness of making it into Mexico:welcome:
er should read Bienvenidos

you never know. the first time I rode a motorcycle into Canada, they had me completely unpack everything and they searched it all. so maybe los estados unidos isn't the only paranoid country? bier cheers :scooter:

MikeMike 25 Dec 2012 05:11

Sjoerd' s right. Yes, Canadian bordercrats can also be a pain sometimes.
I hope the Mexican border agents can keep more US guns out of Mexico and let the riders through.
