Tyre availability in central america's

hi all,

my trip-idea is (slowly) materializing into a planned-trip.

as i don't want to drag spare tyres around i would like to know how tire availability in Mexico and -more important- Central America is.

I start with new Pirelli MT21 (i know, not the most durable...) should be fine for 8-10k at the rear. but then???

thanks,
Sander

Sander,

I don't know which tires (brand) are available in SA/CA but from what I've read and heard a 17" tire is easier to find than an 18" tire. What size rims do you have?

I have relatives/friends in Guatemala and Uruguay/Argentina, I can find out what brands they carry.

Funny thing, I imported some truck tires from Uruguay last year that are impossible to get here in the states so you never know what you might find down there.

Good luck.

You won't have a problem getting Pirelli's in most places. I have a 17" rear which was sometimes a bugger to get tires for but could usually get MT60's. A lot of places will have MT21's for 21" wheels.
