Tires and Service in San Jose Costa Rica
Hi Guys,
If you're heading south, there are several good reasons why you should do your maintenance service, or buy your new tires in San Jose. The first is the weather. It is quite temperate here, due to the altitude. Secondly, there are a number of good bike shops in town that can help you out. You can start with La Moto Ag, Av.9, C.4&6. John, the owner, an expat American and former bike racer, can fix you up. He knows all the bike shops in town. For a set of new tires for my F650 he referred me to the Brymann Moto shop. Herbert von Breymann sells BMW's Aprilia's, KTM's and several other makes. He installed a pair of Michelin Manatee's for me for US$198.
Another suggestion: If this agrees with your budget, you could stay at the Best Western Hotel, downtown, just around the corner from La Moto. Breymann is hard to find. If you are chicken you can hire a cab and let him lead you there.
Incidentally, Best Western (3-star) offers coffee and all the bananas you care to eat all day long, and from 4 - 9 a free cocktail of your choice. (I don't get commission for this promotion). My arms are getting longer from all those free bananas.
