Post Store bike in Panama 2mths ok? & Nd Place??

I plan to ride Cen. Am. to Panama in January - 4wks from U.S.
Then I want to find a storage location close to International airport & fly home 2 mths, return april.
Can anyone tell me if this would be a problem with the importation permit?
Any suggestions on storage??
Thanks.

you would not be allowed to leave as the motorcycle would be stamped in your passport.
Your only option to do this is to leave the bike in an aduanas compound or if you can find a secure place on the border with Costa Rica, which would mean going to Costa Rica for 72 hours minimum without the bike

It is possible!

Hi,

some friends of mine rode 2 bikes from Arizona to Panama and left them there. They flew out without the bikes and had no problems!

I flew with another friend to Panama, we took the bikes and rode them back to the US - even we didn´t have any trouble - incredible!

We did the trip in 4 weeks, but to be honest I wouldn´t do it again in 4 weeks.... You need at least 6-8 weeks, better more time!

We were only riding riding riding.... I speak fluent Spanish, if not we would have needed more time at the borders...

Good Luck!

San Jose Costa Rica bike storage

I STORED MY BIKE FOR A FEW MONTHS IN A SECURE MINI STORAGE RIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY NEAR THE AIRPORT . i THINK IT WAS OWNED BY A CANADIAN.IT WAS NEAR THE DEALER ALSO. Roll up private bike size $50.00 A MONTH.Costa Rica allows 3 months for you and the bike and 2 years ago nothing in your passport about the bike,i wouldn't tell them though.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
