SOS in Puebla, Mexico!

Hey guys, I just went down in Cuatla, Mexico, and am now in Puebla, Mexico, with a dented tank, bent handlebars and break pedal, not to mention a banged up knee and shoulder. Italiko mechanic told me to ride to Puebla because there'd be a honda cycle dealership here, but it's not looking good. Any ideas/help? Who's been here before?

Btw I'm on a 2003 honda shadow spirit. Seems like it might be running hot since the fan kicks on more, but the temp light hasn't come on at all.

Not sure what you're asking. Do you want to know if the bike is ok to ride? Are you looking for a mechanic in Puebla? I'm asking not because I know of one (although Puebla is huge, and there'll be lots of Honda mechanics there), but because I figure if I'm confused maybe others are as well.

My general approach is that dents and bents and dings, whether on the bike or on my poor frail body, are ok. Leaks, blowouts and systems failures are not. In the former case, I ride; in the latter, not.

Hope that's helpful, and best wishes for speedy recovery (or recoveries).

Mark

Also

what altitude are you at? if your high this can cause heating/cooling problems.

if bike runing ok then find a guy with gas welder and bits and bobs of metal. do a 'bush' repair and wait till your in a better town.

I'm in Mex City and I know a few mechanics here who could help you. If you can make it into the city we can put you up for a few days and help you sort things out. I also know a good doctor. Garry

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
